TRACKS FOR CONFERENCE PRESENTATIONS: This conference will present 90 minute sessions in various topical areas. These areas (defined as tracks) cover a range of topics with which public managers
must be familiar. Each track includes specific subject matter that can be presented
from a practical or theoretical framework or demonstrate techniques/methodologies to measure success. Suggested topic areas
are included for each track.
Leadership: Leadership is an essential building block of a strong organization, whether it is in the
work setting or volunteer activities. The leadership track looks at how leaders
are developed, what skills are needed for individuals to become effective leaders, and related topics (i.e. fiscal management,
etc.)
Innovation: The innovation track looks at how public managers can be more innovative in areas such
as behaviors, leadership, interagency, project management and changing paradigms. This
may include the use of various technologies as well.
Customer Service: Customer-driven organizations are operating in the public sector. How are agencies changing to meet the needs of the customers? How
can agencies determine best practices for meeting those needs? How can focus
groups be utilized? What is customer satisfaction, and why is it important? These and related topics are included in this track. The
customer service track also includes formal and informal communications and how they can be more effective.
Human Resources: This track speaks to our ability to manage our human capital within our organizations. This would include, but not limited to, training, succession planning, etc.
Review of Proposals:
The proposals will be evaluated on content and relevance to the
track selected. This is a public management conference with a strong focus on
management skills; leadership and interpersonal competencies; quality management and the Baldrige Award process: and project
management. Proposals that can demonstrate an emphasis on these core areas will be rated more favorably.
AGREEMENT:
By submitting this proposal, I agree to allow
the AACPM to use information submitted for marketing of the Conference and in Conference materials.
