Dear Ohio Certified Public Managers and Society Board Members:

As 2017 comes to a close, I would like to thank each of you for allowing me to serve as your President. It has been one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Many of you have generously shared your knowledge, experience, skills, expertise and personal lives with me for that I am forever grateful. I appreciate your value of leadership and professionalism that is associated with you and the CPM designation.

I would like to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments this year. The Ohio Certified Public Manager Society Board took a new direction as it relates to leadership and public service. We decided to give back to our community. We hosted children from the Big Brothers Big Sisters to a Clippers game over the summer and adopted/sponsored additional children for Christmas. We plan to do even more community events in 2018.

We honored three unique individuals as Certified Public Managers of the Year for 2017 at our annual conference. Congratulations to Shawn Crosby, BWC, John Alge (retired Public Defender’s office) and Senator Joe Uecker. We are proud to know and work with each of you!

Our work is not done. More importantly, we are still working on the reestablishment of the Ohio Certified Public Manager program. I believe we are close to accomplishing this goal. We need your help. There are over 600 Ohio CPMs. It is with grace that I ask each of you to provide the Society with your support of the Ohio CPM program and our community initiatives moving into 2018. You can support the reestablishment of the program by writing us a letter about your experience as a CPM and what this designation means to you! We welcome your suggestions on how we can better serve Ohio! More information about how you can support fellow CPMs and Society initiatives will be posted on the website at: www.ohiocpmsociety.com.

Thank you for the privilege to serve!

Irene Lyons
2017 Society President
